ITU emissions designators can be found in this section. Though amateurs normally use the three digit letter-number-letter format, the designators can be more complex to further define the emission. Amateurs often like to obtain Amateur Radio license plates ("ham tags") to show the world that they are amateurs. This is also a means of making amateurs easily identifiable to public safety and other government officials who may need assistance from amateurs.
